Finding the best WiFi signal is often a challenge. Enter WiFi Analyzer, a helpful Android app that provides clear graphical views of the WiFi signals in your vicinity. WiFi Analyzer lets you choose the strongest wireless signal that has the least amount of traffic and interference.

Channel graph

Based on signal strength, the channel graph shows an overlay graph of each wireless network around you. A different color is used for each network.

Time graph

The time graph tracks real-time signal strengths. While the colors may look jumbled at first, they become clearer as the graph fills up. Tapping a specific network box at the top of the screen brings that network to the front of the graph.

Channel rating

The channel rating indicates the signal strength of all available channels. You can also select a channel for your own WiFi network.
AP list

The access point lists WiFi access points around you and indicates which network is being used for each, as well as on which channel a network is found and if its secure or not.

Signal meter

The signal meter shows the signal strength of a single access point. The Menu button allows you to choose different access points for the view.
Features

Swiping your finger across the screen switches between the views, which can also be accessed through your phone’s Menu button.

WiFi Analyzer lets you take a screen shot of any signal strength screen. And WiFi Analyzer’s many setting choices allow for automatic network scanning, selecting the scan interval, selecting screen colors, and the ability to hide advertising, among others.

(ARA) – With summer on the horizon, families will be heading to backyards across the country for picnics, sports games and to simply soak up the sun. A lush green lawn is the perfect setting for these activities and will be the envy of the neighborhood. How does one achieve that well-manicured, stadium-style lawn?

Many homeowners think a professional-looking lawn requires a stringent water and fertilizer regimen. While both water and fertilizer play their part, neither is the stand-alone key to a perfect lawn. The following five tips offer homeowners simple solutions to achieving a great yard.

* Know your region. Grass seed is not one size fits all. Select the right grass seed or sod based on where you live. It’s also important to consider how you plan to use your lawn. Do you have children and pets that will be playing on it regularly, or will the purpose be primarily curb appeal? To determine the right grass, talk to your local garden center or contact the turf grass specialist at your state agriculture school.

* Only feed as needed. According to Grass Seed USA, a coalition of American grass seed farmers, many homeowners over water their lawns, which does more harm than good. A simple trick to determine whether your lawn needs watering is to stick a screwdriver into the grass. If it enters the dirt easily, your lawn has plenty of water already. If you have trouble getting the screwdriver into the ground, it is time to give the grass a drink. It is also recommended to fertilize your lawn at least once a year. However, putting your lawn on a quarterly schedule will help achieve optimal health.

* Break out the ruler. The maintenance crews for professional sports fields are meticulous about the height of their grass because it ensures a uniform look. Grass Seed USA recommends maintaining a lawn height of about 2 inches. It’s important not to cut more than one-third of the grass height at a time to minimize damage, so aim to mow when your lawn is about 3 inches in height.

* Arm yourself with the right tools. The proper equipment can take a lawn from looking well-manicured to professional. When selecting a mower, don’t jump straight to those that pick up the grass clippings. Allowing the clippings to decompose in the lawn will add to the overall health of your yard, and when you mow often, the shavings are small and less noticeable. Adding an edger to your arsenal is another great trick for cleaning up the lines and defining your yard.

* Replenish as necessary. Grass is a natural carpet that cleans and repairs itself. It’s equipped to withstand a number of elements yet is impacted over time. If you’ve noticed that your lawn is sparse in areas, or not as full and lush as you’d like, it may be time to add more seed. The best time to plant new seed is in the fall when the temperatures are more temperate. But reseeding may be done throughout the year. The important thing is to avoid drastic temperature changes and water regularly, yet moderately, to give the seed time to absorb moisture and build roots.

Growing and maintaining a lush green lawn doesn’t have to come with a backache. Basic planning and these five quick tips will have you well on your way to a backyard prime for the summer season.

Few animals on land or sea inspire such awe as whales and dolphins. Yet relatively few have suffered so severely at human hands.

Today, populations of nearly all the great whales are at depressed levels. This is the result of more than 200 years of unsustainable whaling.

Working to address all threats to cetaceans

WWF’s efforts to end uncontrolled commercial whaling is part of a much broader effort to minimise human impacts on all whales and dolphins. Other major threats include marine pollution, climate change, ship strikes, and fisheries by-catch.

This is a Piano Trio album with a couple of solo piano tunes. The music is jazzy and features delicate ballads, swing tunes, and pieces mixing other kinds of rhythms. Manuel’s sound on the piano is very soft and warm and his tunes on this album create very touching, hopeful atmospheres in some moments and strong in others. Instrumental acoustic music with a contemporary view, not too complex to lose the feeling of the music.

Grandma was right. Nobody really believed her, not even you. For years she regaled you with magical bedtime stories of her adventures as an archeologist. You cuddled closer and listened with wide eyes as she told of her most enchanting discovery–The Lost City.

A mysterious power is calling from the ruins, and Grandma knows why, but is now too old to handle the mission. Inspired by classic choose-your-own-adventure games, you must return to the sleeping ruins and bring with you the artifact that is the heart of the civilization, once wrongfully removed from the sacred land.

Returning the Sacred Heart

Legend has it, those who once lived amongst the now crumbling ruins could somehow control the seasons. You must return the missing piece and discover the magical powers that still exist among the silent and majestic land.

Shrouded by a lush forest and veiled by cascading waterfalls, The Lost City has never surrendered its location to a map. You must navigate your way through the forest, picking up clues as you go. Collect artifacts and solve puzzles to open stone doors, or safely slip beneath a waterfall, to discover another step on your journey through an ancient civilization.
Discovering the Secrets of a Civilization

As you stumble across symbols, clues, and artifacts, you’ll store them safely in your knapsack and take notes in your journal. You’ll map each new destination, so when you find the answer to a puzzle from a previous encounter, you can easily make your way back to it and reveal its secret.

Rediscovering The Lost City, last touched by your own grandmother, is a beautiful adventure. With stunning graphics and an original soundtrack that transports you through time, it’s easy to get lost in challenging yet soothing gameplay.

(ARA) – Imagine that you’ve taught your child everything they need to know about personal finance. Then as he’s getting ready to head off to college and applies for financial aid, he’s unexpectedly rejected for financial aid due to poor credit. Yet he’s never applied for credit in his life. Sounds outrageous, doesn’t it? But this can happen to victims of child identity theft.

Most Americans are aware that identity theft is a significant problem, and that it’s important to take measures to protect your identity. What people might not know is their children may also be targets of identity theft before they even become old enough to own a credit card. The Federal Trade Commission has identified child identity theft as a growing problem and encourages parents to do what they can to minimize the risks to their children.

How does it happen?

The most common way a criminal can steal or misuse the identity of a child is to get access to the child’s Social Security number. The perpetrator then uses the Social Security number to open credit card accounts or loans, rent an apartment, sign up for utilities like cell phone service, or even apply for a job. Credit issuers often don’t have a way to verify the age of the applicant, so if the criminal changes the age of the identity associated with your child, it’s possible that the issuer may approve them for credit, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center.

Once an account has been established in your child’s name, it’s easier for criminals to establish subsequent accounts until this fraud is discovered. If your child’s identity is stolen at an early age and the theft goes undiscovered until she reaches the age where she begins to establish her own credit, it can be very difficult to discover how the fraud first occurred.

How can you help prevent it?

Parents can take a number of steps to help prevent their children from becoming identity theft victims:

* Store your children’s Social Security cards in a safe place like a safety deposit box. Only give out your children’s Social Security number when it’s absolutely necessary, and provide alternate verification whenever possible.

* Teach your children to never reveal personal information to anyone, no matter how trustworthy that person may seem. People close to the family are often found to be perpetrators in child identity theft cases.

* If your child receives pre-approved credit card offers in the mail, you may want to check in with a credit reporting agency or Social Security. If you’ve been contacted by a collection agency regarding an account in your child’s name, there’s a possibility your child’s identity was stolen.

* Consider signing up your family members for a credit monitoring and identity protection solution such as the Equifax Complete(TM) Family Plan, which can help to protect two adults and up to four minor children. With this product, you will be notified of any changes or suspicious activity on your adult credit files; in addition, you can monitor your minor child’s identifying information for existence of an Equifax credit file and lock it, thereby preventing creditors from accessing this file while the child is enrolled in the plan.

By taking a few extra precautions to protect your children’s identities, you can help ensure they get off on the right foot as they become adults and begin establishing their own credit histories.

Why you should listen to him:

Currently the data artist in residence at the New York Times, Jer’s software-based art has been featured all over the world. His former career as a data artist explains why his art often brings big data sets to life and is deeply influenced by science. Originally from Vancouver, he lives in New York City, where, along with his work at the New York Times, he teaches in NYU’s ITP program.
